A HOME WE BARELY THINK OF
As an undergraduate student, I realized that most resumption
times especially after session breaks, see students come in big and it is usually referred to in Yoruba
parlance as “ose igberaga” which
literally translates to “week of pride”.
Most times some of these students have “scammed”
their parents to get extra cash.
The most paradoxical observation was the disposition to
those parents; like they are not even doing anything to help the child so I
wrote this article titled “a home you barely think of”
Though the reason for writing this piece is to congratulate
my dad on the celebration of his birthday I feel it compelling to strike the
heart with a word of truth.
I see many birthday wishes from children to parents like “you are the best dad/mum in the world” and
I admire them, but most times afterwards I stop to think about the implications
of those words and sometimes justify that some use it as mere word of mouth.
To say the least, it is expected that we show gratitude to
our biological parents for allowing them to be used to bring us to this world,
more than that should be a conscious and deliberate appreciation of the good
values that they have entrenched over the years evident in family life.
I urge us today to look beyond singing empty praises of our
parents but live to their expectation.
Finally, our heavenly father too deserves that we live up to
HIS EXPECTATION.
Happy Birthday to the Best Dad in the World….#chuckles#
Best wishes people…DESIRE
