OPPORTUNITY TO TOUCH
Fight is not inevitable, but our society today makes it look like it is impossible not to fight. The inevitable phenomenon is “offence” which is due to differences in character, traits and behaviors.
During my secondary school days, fight was prohibited and still is today in most institutions. I remembered I fought with a lady which was my first and last anyway and I still regret it today.
I was reported to a Teacher who scolded me though he knew the lady was at fault.
Later he called me and advised, don’t fight with a female. It is inhumane and immoral. then I understood better.
Some of my colleagues used the opportunity of two fighting ladies to see the females’ under wears and if it goes beyond that their breasts and if it goes beyond that an opportunity to touch on the pretext of separation as good Nigerians.
This makes them sometimes instigate quarrels between two females so they can fight in open field.
War has a price.
How would ammunition sellers make profit it there is peace?
Many benefit from it and that’s one major problem we have in Nigeria-vested interest.
I think I can categorically say that there are people in the business of importation of generating plants and that’s the only thing they do. How do you expect them to support reforms in the Power sector?
When m-tel was to be created it was war, but can we imagine how many people have benefitted from it today?
The question of these interests has to do with orientation and dialogue.
The wrangling in the North seems to be increasing, because some people benefit from it though I cannot say how but my guess is that there are people close to Government that are sipping from the bloodshed across the nation.
How do you explain continuous bombings associated with an Islamic group, but criticized by fundamental and established Islamic groups and clerics around?
I once read in a daily that the sophisticated weapons carried by some militia groups in the North are modern day equipment and the writer posed-how do they get them (weapons)? How do they know how to use them?
As a business person I would always work to promote my interest at the mercy of others. Permit to say business people are inconsiderate but could we expect less? They have to survive.
If Government can identify the people that are benefitting from any social issue, then the problem is half solved. Like the power issue. One major player will be Generator importers. Talk to them. Make them realize you can provide another type of business. Use the Professors will have to identify other areas.
Academics are not just to teach in the four walls of the University, they are primarily to do research. I have heard many times that Professors are given break time for research. I don’t know how true but if it is not then it should be created.
They can advise Government on better opportunities. I remember vividly when NITEL was going into mobile technology, after sometimes you would see youth with a table, two plastic chairs and an Umbrella making ends meet by reselling recharge cards and making calls for a fee.
Back to my story. Why did my Teacher scold me? He was not willing to be a party to watch a woman disgraced. His scolding made it my last because he made me realize that what I did was wrong.
So also except we have leaders and men who do not want to see the nakedness of Nigeria, our great nation inscription will be a charade.
My colleagues want to gratify the desires of their flesh and that is why they are satisfied with seeing and touching.
Until the lust in the eyes of the beneficiaries of this squabble is dealt with, it might be impossible to achieve the much desired greatness.
Examine yourself. Are you also willing to touch? Do you come into the picture so you can gain proximity to touch?
I f we have people that can appeal to the consciences of those enjoying and those partaking in the immoral party, then it will end just like the movie-Head of State where in the aspiring President echoed “it aint right”.
Who will avail himself or herself to tell them “it aint right”? Who will go?
Or are you willing to call the student to order and say it is inhumane and immoral thereby stopping the act?
Make necessary amends please.
